The theater People's Gift Guide 2021

The gift-giving season is upon us! Sometimes it is hard to decide what to give someone or come up with an idea of something you want. So, I came up with a shortlist of some techie items I’ve come across the past few months while searching for gifts.

There is a range of items on this list that will likely fit every person on your list. If not, perhaps it will spark some other ideas.

1. Smart Plugs by WYZE - $11.98 (Amazon)

wyze smart plugs

Plug your lights or devices into this plug and it can be controlled by your Alexa or Google Assistant. It’s like a Clap On, but better. These are great for everyone but specifically, people who are afraid of the dark, never turn off their lights or TVs or are regularly forgetful if they’ve turned off their straightener. They also have an outdoor version for $17.98.

2. Roku Streambar - $79.98 (reg. $129.99, Amazon)

This is a fairly new Roku system. They’ve added their streaming device to a soundbar. Whatever, right? Well, it’s a soundbar, so your sound is better just because of that. It’s also voice-activated. But honestly, the best feature is you can change the settings to automatically lower the volume of commercials. Lastly, you can purchase more Roku speakers and a subwoofer for greater sound.

3. Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Dolby Atmos - $899.00 (Amazon)

Another soundbar, but this is near-movie grade sound. It comes with Dolby Atmos & Dolby Audio so all (Dolby mastered) music, movies, and TV shows sound powerful. If you can’t afford much of a home setup, a decent 4k TV and this soundbar will blow you away. It’s voice-controlled so Alexa or Google can be used with it. You can also add a bass module for $449.00.

4. Philips Hue Gradient Light Strip - $179.99 (Amazon)

This one is for the parents of Gen Z kids (but also for anyone who likes cool lights). Your kid probably has asked for LED lights in their room. If so, get them these gradient lights. You can sync them to movies, shows, music, and gaming. Or they can just be used to make a TikTok video look cool. For everyone else, they can give your rooms some awesome looks.

5. Ikea Sumfonisk Picture - $199.00 (Ikea)

Ikea Sumfonisk Picture

What if I told you this was just a piece of art? Well, it isn’t! It’s a speaker… disguised as art! The design is specifically so the sound can come out. This is such a cool way to have sound without speakers overwhelming your space. Ikea partnered with Sonos to create this art speaker. If this interests you, be sure to look around the website because they have other designs you can choose from to cover the speaker.

6. Netgear Meural Canvas II - $349.99 (reg. $399.95, Netgear)

Netgear Meural Canvas II

This is probably my favorite item under this list. I really enjoy art so I will be purchasing this. WHY? you ask. Well, it’s a digital art frame! Not quite like those frames that replay pictures of you and your family over and over, because this is better. With a Meural Membership, you can have access to over 30,000 works of actual ART! Love Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Sandro Botticelli? Banksy?? You can have all of their art and so much more on your walls. Impress your friends, family, or that neighbor you don’t really care for. Oh. Yes, you can still add your own personal photos.

7. Samsung Frame TV - $529.99 (32", reg. $599.99, Samsung)

the frame tv

Last but not least. This is one of the coolest TVs out. It is a TV but it also masquerades as art! The screen is set inside of a frame (hence, the name) and when it’s set in Art Mode, it becomes ART! It looks like there is a piece of art on your wall rather than a TV. It comes with a no-gap wall mount so it sits perfectly. You can change the art that is displayed with one of Samsung’s 100+ options.

I hope this list was helpful. If you’re interested in the Bose Soundbar or Frame TV with installation, give us a ring. We’ll hook you up. Happy Holidays!!!

PS. I also will accept any of these gifts. You can mail them to my office.
