Outdoor Television Differences

Now that the warmer days are here, it might be time to look at getting an outdoor television for your backyard. Just a reminder, putting a TV rated for indoors outside is not safe, nor is the picture good enough for the outdoors. So, please be safe and only use outdoor televisions for the outdoors.

Let’s move on. While all outdoor TVs offer the same general specs, there are enough differences to consider. In this blog, I will share all the important specs of the Seura, Sunbrite, and Samsung Terrace outdoor televisions so you can make a well-informed decision before purchasing one (from us).

First, we’ll talk about “Ingress Protection” (IP). Sometimes you’ll see a weatherproof rating next to outdoor TVs written as “IP##” (two numbers fill the # spots). The digits will be between 0-6, or they will have an X if they’re not rated for that specification. The first digit is for solids (dirt, dust, fingers, tools, etc.), and the second digit is for liquids (drips, sprays, submersion, etc.). [Source] I’ll include those if available for each TV.

Note: I’ll include each TV’s brightness. The average indoor TV is anywhere between 200 to 600 nits. Outdoor TVs range from 700 to 2,500 nits.
